China’s electric vehicle revolution is in full swing as domestic car manufacturers gear up to challenge the world’s leading players, with innovative technologies, latest models and batteries showcased at the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai 2023.
Themed “Embracing the New Era of the Automotive Industry,” the exhibition kicked off on Tuesday and displays more than 1,500 vehicles with two-thirds of them being electric ones, defining the “new era” as the “electric-powered era.”

Porsche AG posted a record year-on-year sales increase of 18% in the first quarter, boosted by China sales, the company said on Monday.
The German luxury carmaker delivered 21,365 cars in China, its largest single market, representing 21% growth over the previous year. The result there, which is the biggest among regions, was driven by the post-pandemic surge in demand.
